PUBLIC NOTICE
SUBJECT: Use of Land in Accordance with the Purpose for Which It Was Granted or Settled.
It has come to the notice of the Executive Committee, Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), through field reports and administrative review that certain holders of land within the jurisdiction of the Lai Autonomous District Council are using land for purposes other than those for which such land was granted settled or permitted under the relevant land records and documents.
All land holders are hereby informed that the use of land is subject to the purpose and conditions specified in the Settlement Certificate, Lease, Limited Lease Permit Pass or other document under which the land is held.
Under Section 4 of the Lai Autonomous District Council (Land Holding & Settlement) Act, 2002, as amended from time to time, (hereinafter called the Act)using land granted under a Settlement Certificate, Lease or Limited Lease for a purpose other than the purpose for which it was granted constitutes misuse of land. Such misuse may result in penalty and/or eviction in accordance with law.
Further, agricultural land shall not be used for a non-agricultural purpose without obtaining the requisite permission for conversion under Section 5 of the Act, wherever such conversion is permission under law.
Accordingly, all persons, businesses institutions and other entities presently using land for a purpose different from the purpose specified in their respective land holding documents are directed to discontinue such use or obtain the necessary permission/conversion from the competent authority, where permissible under law.
The Land Revenue & Settlement Department shall undertake necessary verification of such cases and, where misuse or unauthorised change of land use is found appropriate proceedings shall be initiated under the Act which may result in imposition of penalty or eviction after following the procedure prescribed by law.
All concerned are therefore directed to ensure that the land in their possession is used strictly in accordance with the purpose for which it was granted settled or allotted.
